Questions about the beta

The most important answers about the Card Case test on Android.

01Which devices is the beta for?

The current Card Case beta is made for Android.

02How does beta access work?

You can download the app directly. To use it, you need a personal access code. There is no sign-up or automatic app approval on this website.

03What can I test in Card Case?

Test the scanner, custom sets, wishlists, prices and collection value. Record condition and holo variants per copy and see the known rarity of your cards. Tablet mode, accessibility mode, CSV backups and the automatic update check are part of it, too.

04Can I back up my lists?

Yes. The collection CSV also saves the collection value history as well as condition, print variant, language, purchase price and slab details of your copies, plus notes and your own prices. Wishlists can be exported, too. Keep the files outside the app and check your backup before reinstalling.

05Where do I get the Android app?

You can download Card Case 0.14.64 as an APK (59.5 MB). A personal access code is still required.

06How do I install the APK?

Open the downloaded file on your Android device and follow the steps shown. Android may ask you to allow installation from your browser. Only download the APK from cardcase.online. The eight-step installation guide also explains the Android permission and the possible Samsung block.

07How do I switch from an old debug test version?

If the old debug app cannot be updated directly because of a different signature, back up your lists first. The guide to the one-time switch explains all steps.

08Do I have to delete the app for every update?

No. From the signed version 0.14.42 on, you can usually update later versions with the same signing key over the installed app. Your local data and your beta access are kept. An export to be on the safe side is still a good idea. You find the current version and the update guide on the updates page.

09How do I turn on accessibility mode?

On the app's home screen, open the settings with the gear icon and turn on “Barrierefreiheit” (accessibility) in the “Ansicht” (view) section. The mode offers larger text, stronger contrast, larger touch targets and fewer animations. Your choice is saved. More about accessibility mode.

10How do I open a card on eBay or Cardmarket?

Choose a card in the app and tap “Auf eBay öffnen” (open on eBay) or “Auf Cardmarket öffnen” (open on Cardmarket) in the card details. The matching search or card page opens in your browser. More about prices and marketplaces.

11Does Card Case check for updates itself?

From 0.14.62 on, the app checks for newly published revisions when it starts. The notice only shows the new version number with “Update herunterladen” (download update) and “Später erinnern” (remind me later). The latter postpones the same version for 24 hours. More about the update check.

12Can I record condition and holo variants?

Yes. Plus asks for optional condition, print variant, language and purchase price; you save graded cards as a slab with grader, grade and certificate number. Minus lets you pick the matching copy. The details are saved in the collection CSV. In the collection value, reverse holo copies count with the reverse holo price; the condition does not change the price. More about copy details.

13How do I use Card Case on a tablet?

On suitable Android tablets, the 160 % view is on by default. In the settings (gear icon on the home screen) you turn “Tablet-Modus” (tablet mode) on or off and can also turn on accessibility mode. More about tablet mode.

For existing testers

One-time switch from the old debug app

These steps apply if your previous test app has a different signature and Android therefore refuses the update. Only delete it once your backup has been checked and your beta access is prepared for the new installation.

  1. 01

    Back up lists and collection

In your previous Card Case app, open “Import & Export” and export the lists, collections and wishlists you want to keep as CSV files. Export several lists one by one if the app offers them one by one.

  2. 02

    Check the backup

Save the CSV files outside the app, for example in the “Downloads” folder or on your computer. Check in your files app that all the files you need are there. The import can only restore data that was actually exported. If something is missing, do not delete the old app yet.

  3. 03

Have your beta code released again

Your personal access code is tied to your previous installation. Contact us at cardcaseapp@gmail.com before switching so that we can release it for the new installation. Keep your code and wait with deleting until you have received our confirmation.

  4. 04

    Uninstall the previous app

When your backup and the release are ready, open the settings on your Android device, choose Card Case under “Apps” and tap “Deinstallieren” (uninstall). Locally saved app data is removed in the process.

  5. 05

    Download the new app

Open cardcase.online on your Android device and tap “Beta download” at the top. Open the downloaded APK and follow your device's installation notes. Only download the app from this website. Help with the settings is in the installation guide.

  6. 06

    Import lists again

Start Card Case and enter your re-released beta code. Open “Import & Export”, choose “Importieren” (import) and load your saved CSV files. Then check your collection and wishlists. Keep the backup files until everything is complete.
